+ What type of repairs does RTS provide?

Common types of repairs that RTS is able to provide include:

  • Wheelchair ramps and other accessibility improvements
  • Installation of grab bars or handrails to improve safety
  • Minor plumbing and electrical work
  • Flooring repair or replacement
  • Painting, interior and exterior
  • Window repair or replacement
  • Clutter removal
  • Yard clean-up

Repairs that RTS is typically unable to provide include:

  • Major roof work, including replacements
  • Major plumbing or sewer line repair
  • Major electrical work, including rewiring
  • Foundation repairs
  • Cosmetic repairs or non-critical improvements
  • Emergency repairs

+ How long will it take to receive repair services?

Once we have approved your application, we then begin the process of finding the volunteer(s) and funding to complete your project. This process can take anywhere between two to eight months depending on the length of our waiting list, as well as the availability of volunteers and funding.

+ Does RTS provide emergency repairs?

At this time, RTS does not provide emergency repairs. If you are in need of urgent repairs, then we encourage you to apply to the King County Housing Repair Program for their emergency grants.

+ Does RTS provide services to apartments or condominiums?

RTS does provide services to apartments and condominiums, as long as you own and reside in the apartment or condominium you are requesting repairs for.

+ Can I still receive services if I do not live within the coverage area?

We are unable to provide services to those outside of our coverage area; however, we may be able to refer you to other home repair programs closer to your area if you give us a call or send us an email. In addition, feel free to contact us if you are unsure whether or not you live in our coverage area.
