We strive to provide safe and healthy homes.
Rebuilding Together Seattle transforms lives by providing critical home repairs and maintenance to those in need. We work to ensure housing stability for our low-income neighbors and revitalize local communities. Our vision is a city where everyone has safe homes and communities to live in.
Who We Serve
We serve low-income residents of the greater Seattle area, especially seniors, persons with disabilities, families with children, and veterans, as well as other community members with a high risk of displacement, injury or illness, and other adverse outcomes that can lead to housing instability. We also offer help to nonprofit facilities and community centers that are in need of repairs.
How We Work
We work with local businesses, community organizations, and skilled volunteers to coordinate home repair projects that focus on safety and health-related improvements. We are also the only nonprofit organization in the area that offers home repairs to those in need completely free of charge.
Why Our Work Matters
With the economic inequality and affordability of homes worsening throughout Seattle, Rebuilding Together Seattle helps families stay in their homes, seniors to age in place, and preserve the character and culture of our local communities.
Our History
In 1973, a group of volunteers in Midland, Texas formed Christmas in April, and performed rehabilitation work in their community every April. As need for their work grew and began to gain national attention, Rebuilding Together was established and continued to become the leading volunteer home repair organization in the nation.
Since our founding as an affiliate in 1989, Rebuilding Together Seattle has served over 30 years and more than 2,200 families in the greater Seattle region. We continue to be motivated by the original efforts of our founders as we help those in our communities that need it most.
