As housing instability and affordability issues grow, restoring existing homes is crucial to preserving the well-being of low-income residents and preventing them from losing their homes. More than housing repair, we improve health outcomes, stabilize housing and homeownership, and reduce the need for new affordable housing.
National Rebuilding Month
For over 30 years, Spring Rebuilding Day has been our flagship program event, engaging the vast majority of the 40,000+ volunteers that we have worked with and representing some of the most impactful work that we manage. Recently, we have decided to expand this event and join the National Rebuilding Month movement. Throughout the entire month of April, we work with local businesses and organizations who sponsor and volunteer for over 15 major home repair projects.
Team Builds
Through the Team Build Program, we work with local businesses and organizations who sponsor rebuilding projects and also organize volunteer groups to perform the repairs. With a greater level of funding and resources, these projects deliver more extensive repairs and safety improvements for families living in dilapidated homes.
Safe At Home
The Safe at Home Program is our year-round maintenance program and makes up a large portion of the work we do every year. With the help of our skilled volunteers, we are able to organize smaller scale projects that target critical home repairs, such as carpentry, accessibility improvements, flooring replacements, minor electrical and plumbing work, weatherization, among other repairs.
Open Volunteer Days
Open Volunteer Days are inclusive and collaborative opportunities for volunteers of all skill levels to work together to make a direct impact in our communities. This program engages individual volunteers to complete larger repair projects as a group, and also connect with the people that they serve.
