Women across the country are working hard to make ends meet often in unsafe homes and communities. More than one in seven women and more than one in five children live in poverty. More than half of those children live in families headed by women. Additionally, two-thirds of low-wage workers are women working for just $10.50 or less. Most don’t have a spouse’s income to rely on to support their family. In 2015 nearly 60 percent of Rebuilding Together’s homeowners and their families were women. Together we can change that, transforming homes and communities. Together we can increase the health and safety of their homes, and empower women to become change makers in their communities.
Rebuilding Together will bring together female leadership from across the network including - Sherry Chris, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors; Caroline Blakely, President and CEO; Mary Herche, Rebuilding Together advocate; affiliate executive directors; skilled project captains and volunteers; and community leaders. Together we will change neighborhoods. This is not just a hands-on team-building project, this is a holistic commitment to empowering women to transform their communities!
